Steven Gerrard appears to have confirmed that he has played his last game for LA Galaxy, after he posted an Instagram message suggesting he is going to miss the California skyline.

Liverpool legend Gerrard failed to make Galaxy’s starting line-up for their MLS play-off game against Colorado Rapids earlier this month, which added fuel to the rumours suggestions he would not be handed a new contract by the MLS club.

Now he has seemingly cemented the suspicion that his time in Los Angeles is coming to an end, with an social media post that appeared to be a farewell to America.

Gerrard failed to make a big impact at Galaxy and with his contract now up, he may look to embark on a coaching career or aim to extend his playing career with a move to another European club.

There have been suggestions that Gerrard may look to follow in David Beckham’s footsteps by playing for a top European club before he calls time on his career, amid suggestions that he still feels he has something to offer at the age of 36.

Beckham played for AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain at the back end of his career, yet a move into coaching appears to be the most likely next switch for Gerrard.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed the club’s former skipper would be welcomed back at the Anfield club if he wants to start a coaching career in his native Merseyside.

Meanwhile, there is still no word on the LA Galaxy future of Republic of Ireland star Robbie Keane, who is also out of contract after his side's MLS Play-Off challenge came to an end.

Keane's former Ireland team-mate Kevin Doyle confirmed in an interview with Independent.ie that the Dubliner was keen to continue his career, but he is still waiting to discover whether he will receive a new contract offer from Galaxy.
