Manchester City's Vincent Kompany, left, celebrates scoring his side's first goal of the game against Southampton

Vincent Kompany's first goal in 20 months and Sergio Aguero's 11th in 11 games helped Manchester City to a 3-0 win at Southampton.

Kompany marked his latest return to the City rearguard in what has been an injury-plagued season by heading a 55th-minute opener.

Leroy Sane grabbed a second moments before Aguero chipped in with his 29th goal of the season to seal victory.

"Vincent Kompany celebrates after scoring his first #PL goal since August 2015 to hand @ManCity a second-half advantage #SOUMCI" - Kompany's opener was a long time coming and was celebrated by the Premier League's official Twitter account (@premierleague).

STAR MAN Leroy Sane. The winger tormented Cedric Soares in the first half and got the goal his performance deserved after the break. Rapidly becoming an integral part of a lethal City attack.

MOMENT OF THE MATCH Claudio Bravo steadied himself, held out his hands and made a simple catch from a tame Maya Yoshida header. It was the first time the City keeper had saved an effort on target since January 2.

MOAN OF THE MATCH If video technology will right the wrongs of football then why was opinion still so divided on whether City should have had a first-half penalty? Thankfully three second-half goals spared us from having to watch more replays from every angle at full-time.
