Slimani to augment Foxes firepower
Leicester City target Islam Slimani has appeared to bid an emotional goodbye to Sporting Lisbon after scoring in the 2-1 victory against Porto in the Dragões-Leões derby.
The 28-year-old's representatives have held further talks with Leicester, who are seeking extra firepower ahead of the Champions League debut, over a proposed club-record transfer worth in the region of £30m.
Slimanii, an Algeria team-mate of Foxes star Riyad Mahrez, scored 27 goals last term as Sporting finished runners-up to Benfica in the Primeira Liga.
Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri has also been linked with a move for another Sporting star, with Portuguese midfielder Adrien Silva (27) seemingly confirming reports that he is destined for a £20m switch to the King Power Stadium.
West Brom have signed Nacer Chadli from Tottenham for a club record fee of £13m. And that fee will be eclipsed if the Baggies complete an expected £15m deal for Malaga's Ignacio Camacho.
Belgium international Chadli spent three years at Spurs and becomes Albion's third signing of a frustrating summer, with a couple more to follow before the deadline.
