Sligo pounce to sign Kenya striker Odhiambo
SLIGO Rovers have completed the signing of well-travelled striker Eric Odhiambo, an Oxford-born Kenyan international
Ian Baraclough has been working to add strength to his forward department after the release of Anthony Elding and the loss of David McMillan to Dundalk.
Odhiambo started his career at Leicester, and spent time on loan at Southend, Dundee United and Brentford before joining Inverness permanently and then departing for Turkish side Denizlispor.
He was lined up for a move to Sligo last summer but a registration problem held it up and he duly signed a short-term deal at Hereford.
"We wanted Eric in July," said Baraclough. "Red tape with FIFA stopped the move. I've kept tabs on him. His style will suit our game and philosophy.
"He did very well for Terry Butcher at Inverness. At 24 he is a good age to get his career thriving again. Hereford played in a way that didn't suit him. He will enjoy how we play."
Baraclough is looking to bring in one more attack-minded player before completing his squad.
Meanwhile, Drogheda United have signed veteran Daire Doyle, a member of the recent FIFPRO trip to Norway who recently left Bray Wanderers.
