Ryan dismissal no problem for Sligo

SLIGO ROVERS showed real character to clinch the three points despite having to play with 10 men for an hour at the Carlisle Grounds.

Padraig Amond put Sligo ahead in the 10th minute when he headed home a Gary McCabe cross.

The visitors suffered a blow on 28 minutes when midfielder Richie Ryan was dismissed for a robust challenge on John Mulroy that seemed more deserving of a yellow card.

Wanderers struggled to threaten 10-man Rovers but were handed the equaliser in comical fashion in the 52nd minute when 'keeper John Gibson drilled a clearance against Jake Kelly and he smashed home the loose ball. Sligo regained the lead on the hour mark when Joseph Ndo's corner was headed home by substitute Matthew Blinkhorn.

Romauld Boco, another sub, burst through to lob Matt Gregg for Sligo's third goal in the 83rd minute.
