Rovers await Tallaght nod
SHAMROCK Rovers will today learn if they will be able to host their Europa League group games at Tallaght Stadium after South Dublin County Council and the FAI approved the installation of 4,000 temporary seats at the venue, WRITES RUAIDHRI O'CONNOR.
The Hoops are hoping UEFA will grant them permission to carry out the upgrade, despite the rulebook indicating that temporary seating is not allowed in the competition's group stages.
Club officials attended a four-hour meeting with the stadium owners, the SDCC and the FAI and the club is believed to be footing the estimated €150,000 bill for the new seats. That cost is expected to be covered by the revenue generated by ticket sales.
The Hoops, who start their Europa League campaign at home to Rubin Kazan on September 15, will have to kick off all of their home games at 6.0 Irish time at UEFA's insistence.
