Robbie Keane finalises Galaxy move in €3.4m deal - reports
Ireland captain Robbie Keane has been sold to Major League soccer team La Galaxy in a deal worth an estimated £3m (€3.4m), according to international reports.
The move comes after weekend speculation that he was a target of the MLS club after falling out of favour with Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp
It is understood the soccer star is ready to board a plane to Los Angeles to finalise the two-year deal although the club has not confirmed this.
Keane, 31, spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham.
The deal was done just hours before the MLS transfer window closed last night.
The striker will replace Aston Villa forward Juan Pablo Angel as one of the three designated high earners at the Galaxy alongside David Beckham and Landon Donovan.
Galaxy bosses remained tight-lipped about the move, however.
"We have no comments at this time on any player moves,” LA Galaxy coach Bruce Arena told ESPN.
“I think our policy since I've been here is to not talk about players that are with other clubs or names that are just fantasyland out there until we actually acquire a player.”
