ST PATRICK'S ATHLETIC 2009. Bohemians 2010. Dundalk 2011. Sligo Rovers 2012. Shamrock Rovers 2013 and now St Patrick's Athletic 2014.

Mark Quigley's CV reads like that of a journeyman, yet it feels inappropriate to describe a talented player in such terms as his name does not evoke images of a grafter scrapping to make a living.

Joseph Ndo said recently that the Dubliner is a genius, and those players require special treatment.

If Liam Buckley can draw the best from the 28-year-old, then it will enhance the Saints' chances of retaining their League of Ireland crown. That's a massive 'if', though. Quigley (left) could easily be the signing of the winter, but it's equally feasible that he could spend 2015 elsewhere.

Still, when it comes to the Champions League qualifiers in July, Saints manager Buckley will be able to turn to a player with the technical quality to mix it with vaunted opposition.
