THERE are a total of 44 teams who have played in the Premier League since its inception in 1992, although at the top of the Championship there are a couple of teams hoping to add to that list.
Swansea City and Cardiff City are poised to be involved in the promotion battle and they are among the seven Championship teams who have never played in the Premier League.
The two Welsh sides are the most likely to add a new name to English football's top division next season, with others like Millwall and Bristol City looking too far off the chasing pack and Preston sitting rock bottom.

That pair are also the only two current Championship teams who have never appeared in English football's top flight.
