Preston fan “will sell a kidney” for a ticket to FA Cup tie against Manchester United

South Africa’s biggest Preston North End fan has demonstrated his enthusiasm for their FA Cup fifth round tie against Manchester United by advertising one of his kidneys on Facebook in exchange for two match tickets.

Michael Jackson - a lifelong North End fan who has lived in Johannesburg – for 25 years, once spent all his pocket money attending games as a youth, but has somewhat upped the stakes, according to the Lancashire Evening Post:

"I’d sell a kidney to get a ticket. Someone suggested I should ride a giraffe, I’d do whatever it takes. I’d even swim from Cape Town to the River Ribble. It is on TV but I want to be there in person cheering on the Lilywhites. But it is impossible to get a ticket," he said.

With the game almost certain to be a 23,000 sell-out at Deepdale – and Jackson isn’t registered on the Preston ticket database – his chances currently seem slim.
