Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be handed a short term contract to stay at Man United next season as his injury recovery progresses ahead of schedule.

The Swedish striker was originally expected to be sidelined until 2018 after picking up a serious knee injury last April, but current estimates have the attacker possibly returning as soon as October.

Zlatan has remained in Manchester to rehabilitate the injury, and according to The Sun, Jose Mourinho is impressed with his recovery and is expected to offer Ibrahimovic a contract to run until the end of next season if he continues his injury comeback at this pace.

Zlatan lived up to the hype in his first season in English football, netting 17 Premier League goals and 28 in all competitions.

He will be 36 on October 3, but could well run out at Old Trafford again if he continues his quicker than expected recovery.
