The high-profile managers working in the Premier League have been stealing the headlines in the build-up to the new season, but their reputations are about to be placed in the hands of a handful of goalscoring match winners.

While Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and new Man City chief Pep Guardiola are being hailed as the stars of the show in English football, these goal getters are likely to be far more influential than the tacticians calling the shots from the touchline, with their odds to finish as top scorer listed here.

Odds: 7/2

Guardiola may have been splashing the cash as he prepares for his debut season in English football, but this veteran (inset below) of the City cause is still likely to be his main man. This maestro fired 24 goals from just 29 starts in the Premier League last season.

Odds: 13/2

The Premier League’s top scorer with 25 goals last season, Kane has all the attributes needed to shine in England’s top flight. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino knows how to get the best out of this 23-year-old marksman.

(Man Utd)

Odds: 8/1

A sparkling goal in his first appearance for United last weekend suggested this Swedish icon still has plenty to offer at the age of 34. Mourinho has signed him as much for the presence he will provide around his squad as his goals, but the confident Zlatan will expect to win the Premier League’s golden boot.

Odds: 12/1

There are still big doubts over Costa’s future at Chelsea, with the club’s eagerness to sign Romelu Lukaku evidence that they are ready to off-load this Spanish bad-boy.

If he stays and rediscovers his best form, he could still be a contender to finish as top scorer.

JAMIE VARDY (Leicester)

Odds: 16/1

This dynamic forward confirmed his commitment to Leicester by turning down the advances of Arsenal this summer and now he gets his chance to justify that decision. Vardy epitomizes everything that was good about the Foxes as they were crowned as champions, but can he repeat his 24-goal haul this season?

Odds: 16/1

If Arsenal are to end their 13-year wait for a Premier League title, it seems likely that Giroud will need to defy his critics and fire them to glory. The Frenchman went on a 14-game goalless streak in the Premier League last season and his critics argue he lacks the cutting edge to hurt the top sides in English football.

Odds: 16/1

At the age of 22, it is safe to assume this Belgian youngster will need time to settle at

Chelsea following his summer move from Marseille. Yet after handing over £32m to secure his services, Chelsea have a right to expect a goal return from this livewire forward this season.

Odds: 33/1

Fitness as much as form will be the key for this deadly marksman over the next few months and if he can play 30 Premier League games, he should fire at least 20 goals. Liverpool boss Klopp has to hope his main man can give up his season ticket to the treatment room.

SHANE LONG (Southampton)

Odds: 66/1

Okay, we may be a little biased by including Republic of Ireland striker Long in our list of potential golden boot winners, but he looks set to play a prominent role in Southampton’s plans this season after signing a new deal. If Shane his 25 goals this season, we’ll all be toasting his success.
