Who is the Premier League's most injured player?

Jack O'Toole

There are currently 95 players in the Premier League out injured at the moment with Manchester United the league leaders in injuries with eight current players sidelined with an assortment of injuries.

With midfielders Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera in doubt for this Thursday's Manchester Derby with respective muscular and ankle injuries, and with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo both out for the rest of the season with ACL tears, United are in the midst of an injury crisis at the moment that is not wholly exclusive to the 13-time Premier League champions.

Rivals Liverpool also currently have eight players out due to injury while Manchester City and West Ham United trail closely with seven injuries each, but out of all the players in the Premier League, who is injured the most?

A Sky Sports study revealed that on-loan Bournemouth midfielder Jack Wilshere is the most injured Premier League player over the last six seasons.

Sourcing statistics from sports injury website , Sky Sports identified that Wilshere is the most injury prone player in the Premier League since the 2011/12 season having missed a total of 895 days through injury. The 25-year-old has made just 95 appearances for both Arsenal and Bournemouth over the last six seasons and is currently sidelined with a broken leg he suffered against Tottenham a fortnight ago.

Marseille midfielder Abou Diaby was second on the list trailing Wilshere by only 37 days, despite leaving the Premier League in the summer of 2015, nearly two seasons less than many of the other players on the list.

Ireland international Darron Gibson comes in at third on the list with 792 days out through injury and if he can play at least two more games this season then he will have reached 10 appearances for the seasons, which would represent his highest total  for a season since the 2012/13 season where he played 23 games under David Moyes at Everton.
