Welcome boost for Joe Hart as Allardyce gives out of favour keeper the thumbs up
Joe Hart will be named in the first England squad to be selected by Sam Allardyce, but he may have left Manchester City by the time he meets up for national team duty.
Allardyce’s England era begins with a World Cup qualifier against Slovakia on September 4th, with Hart’s status as his national team’s No.1 under serious threat following his omission from the City team by his new manager Pep Guardiola.
Yet Allardyce has confirmed that he will stand by Hart for now and will assess his mood when he meets up for England duty.
“In terms of picking Joe, he will be in the squad definitely,” Allardyce told Sky Sports.
“What (else) we do, I won’t really know until I speak to Joe. That’ll be the same with most of the players when they arrive. What frame of mind are they in, how are they from a mental and psychological point of view, (that is how we will) make the right selection for Slovakia away and start with a victory hopefully.”
Everton appear to be lining up a big for Hart, who is not even expected to be in the City second string side that will take on Steaua Bucharest on Wednesday.
Barcelona have confirmed that they have agreed a deal to sell keeper Claudio Bravo to City, with Ajax keeper Jasper Cillessen arriving at the Nou Camp as his replacement.
