A Northern Irish teenager has been nominated alongside the likes of Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez for Manchester United's goal of the month award.

Ethan Galbraith was nominated for his spectacular effort in United's Under-18 Premier League tie with Manchester City last month.

The goal ultimately proved to be the winner in a 2-1 victory for United's U-18 side over their local rivals, and the win also clinched the Under-18 Premier League for the Red Devils.

The teenager was brought into United's academy system in the summer of 2017 after impressing in the underage ranks of Belfast-based semi-professional side Linfield.

The Antrim-born youngster was invited to a trial at the Premier League club where he played alongside the likes of Angel Gomes, who has since featured for United's first team.

Galbraith signed a three-year contract with the Manchester club and has represented Northern Ireland at underage level, playing primarily as a defensive midfielder.

The teenager played for his country in their Under-17 European Championship qualifying campaign in 2017, where Northern Ireland missed out on qualification to the main draw after losses to Switzerland and Belgium.

Polling for the goal of the month award closes on Tuesday and the winner will be announced sooner after.
