LA GALAXY have confirmed they will allow Ireland captain Robbie Keane to make a loan move until the end of February.
Keane must decide this week whether to join Aston Villa on a short-term deal, while news of Alex McLeish's interest has also alerted Celtic.
Tim Leiweke, president of Galaxy owners AEG, confirmed to American media that the MLS club would not stand in his way.
He confirmed that, ultimately, the final decision lay with Ireland's captain and record goalscorer.
"Only if Robbie wants to do it," he said, "And for us, it's an opportunity for Robbie, from a conditioning standpoint, to stay healthy and in shape."
Villa want a quick decision from Keane on his intentions. The 31-year-old is training with former club Tottenham until January 20.
The Tallaght native's primary concern this year is the Euro 2012 finals. He had previously suggested that a long winter break would leave him fresher than his colleagues going into the tournament.
