Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville admittedly risked the wrath of Liverpool fans last night by claiming that Simon Mignolet should have saved Phil Jagielka's late equaliser in the Merseyside derby.

The centre-half let fly in injury time to rescue a point for the Toffees after Steven Gerrard's free-kick looked to be enough to give the home side all three points.

"I'm ready for the pelters that will come my way," the former Manchester United defender admitted on Monday Night Football, before dissecting the Belgian's low body positioning was questionable for the goal.

"I think Mignolet has got to do better," he said. "He should have saved that."

"This is harsh but I would expect a top-level goalkeeper to save it."
