Van Gaal to Man United: Does Robin van Persie know something we don't?

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie had plenty to smile about after Manchester United's victory over Hull City last night.

After making a comeback from a long standing injury against Sunderland and getting on the score sheet in the 3-1 win, van Persie had every right to be pleased with himself.

However, in a post match interview, last night, van Persie was particularly bullish about United's chances next season.

"Trust me, we will be back. Trust me. Save this interview," he said.
Van Persie is thought to enjoy a particularly close relationship with van Gaal after managing him at international level for the last two years.

Van Gaal is to be confirmed as the new Manchester United manager in the coming days.

“He can be hard but he is very soft on the other side,” says former Holland star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink of van Gaal. “If players have a problem he is very helpful. He is big on family – if people have problems with family or something like that he will always help. But he is a big disciplinarian. He has everything, he sees everything – and I mean everything – and he does not allow people to drop their standards.”
