Sunderland footballers held over damaged cars

TWO Premier League footballers have been arrested after cars were damaged in a city centre.

Lee Cattermole and Nicklas Bendtner who play for Sunderland were held by Northumbria Police yesterday.

They were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and bailed following an incident in Stowell Street, Newcastle, at about 10pm on December 6.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Police can confirm that on Thursday December 15 two men aged 23 were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

"It follows an investigation into cars damaged on Stowell Street in Newcastle city centre which happened about 10pm on Tuesday December 6.

"The two men have been bailed."
