As more newspaper rumours suggesting Jose Mourinho WILL NOT be taking over at Manchester United this summer ripple through the football grapevine, our poll appears to banish the notion that some of the club’s supporters have reservations over his appointment at Old Trafford.

Louis van Gaal’s position as United manager has been under scrutiny for many months, but he has been bullish in his eagerness to remain in charge for the third and final year of his contract and recent evidence suggests he may well be granted that wish.

After a Dutch reporter with strong links to Van Gaal suggested on Tuesday that the United boss had been assured of his future and handed a £100m transfer kitty for this summer, reports now suggest the veteran tactician has rejected the advances of the Dutch FA to take up a role as their Technical Director as he is determined to stay at United.

The move by legendary United manager and influential club director Alex Ferguson to back Van Gaal publicly last week was another sign that the Dutchman continues to command support at Old Trafford, despite a troubled campaign that has failed to catch fire.

Meanwhile, suggestions in the UK press that Mourinho is increasingly concerned that he will not be granted his wish to take over at United this summer have been circulating for several days.

Yet our Twitter poll provides compelling evidence to suggest United fans are eager to see serial trophy winner Mourinho installed at Old Trafford once this difficult season comes to an end.

As an overwhelming number of United fans confirmed their support for Mourinho, the slim numbers backing current boss Van Gaal or the claims of his assistant Ryan Giggs to be at the helm next season was telling.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is believed to have admirers in the Old Trafford board room and the idea of his arrival at United attracted some interest, yet this confirms there is only one man United fans want to see holding fort in the home dressing room next season.
