Real Madrid send classy letter to young English striker who suffered a second horror injury
Sunderland striker Duncan Watmore received a special message from Real Madrid today as he continues his recovery from a second cruciate knee ligament injury.
The 23-year-old first injured his knee in December 2016 in the Premier League before returning to action in the Championship this season.
However, the former England U21 international re-injured the same knee against Millwall in just his sixth game back from the first injury.
Watmore is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines but was handed a boost when he turned up to rehab today to find a heartwarming letter from Real Madrid, which was signed by Sporting Director Emilio Butragueno.
The 11-time European champions wished Watmore a 'smooth and speedy' recovery, with Duncan's dad Ian sharing the letter on social media.
