Radamel Falcao has 'signed' for Chelsea
Radamel Falcao has already agreed to join Chelsea and will complete a season-long loan from Monaco later this week, according to reports.
Falcao endured a difficult debut season in the Premier League last term as he struggled for any kind of form while at Manchester United. Having been signed from the Ligue 1 club on transfer deadline day in 2014, Falcao went on to score just four goals for United, and the club elected not to activate a £43.2m clause in his contract that would have made the loan move permanent.
But the reigning Premier League champion look set to give Falcao a second chance in the English top flight, and with the 29-year-old’s Colombia side being knocked out of the Copa America last weekend, he is due to return to Europe following his commitments in Chile.
According to the Evening Standard, Falcao has been instructed to join up with the rest of the Blues squad in Montreal on 19 July at a pre-season training camp, and reports in his native Colombia claim that the contract between the two parties has already been signed.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho admitted earlier this summer that he would love the opportunity to try and show Falcao’s true talents following his difficult spell at United.
"It really hurts me that people in England believe that Falcao is the guy they saw at Manchester United," Mourinho told DirecTV Sports.
"He's a player I know, one that I've followed since Atletico Madrid and if I can help Falcao arrive at his level I will do it."
With the rest of the Chelsea squad due to travel to Canada four days earlier than Falcao, it appears the striker will be given extra time to recover from his exploits in South America this season.
