Nasri signing can be final piece in City title jigsaw
Roberto Mancini believes Manchester City now possess the attacking threat to win the Premier League after finally landing Samir Nasri.
The French midfielder is expected to complete his £23m move from Arsenal today after completing his medical.
A week-long delay in completing the deal, caused by a £3m wrangle over agents' fees, was settled yesterday morning, with a compromise agreement being struck between City and Nasri's representatives.
Accommodating the 24-year-old into his team is likely to prove a major challenge for Mancini, a manager whose DNA centres on his defensive inclination and determination to win at all costs rather than with flair, but the Italian has already made plans for a triumvirate of Nasri, David Silva and Sergio Aguero behind centre-forward Edin Dzeko in his strongest line-up.
It is understood that England midfielders James Milner and Gareth Barry are the most vulnerable following Nasri's arrival, with Milner expected to make way for the new signing when Mancini names his strongest team.
Liverpool, meanwhile, now appear favourites to sign Uruguay defender Sebastien Coates, a long-term Mancini target. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
