Despite being reduced to 14 men for all of the second half, Wexford's experience proved the difference in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Wexford led briefly with early points by Ciaran Lyng and Ben Brosnan but Leitrim bounced back to lead 0-8 to 0-5 at the break.

The dismissal of James Stafford in the 31st minute galvanised the visitors with Lyng, PJ Banville and John Tubritt dictating matters.

Leitrim remained competitive throughout the second period only losing the lead with 10 minutes remaining, but the momentum was with the visitors who took advantage of a tiring home side, outscoring Leitrim four points to one in the closing stages.
