The plaudits poured down on Wayne Rooney as he celebrated his testimonial match at Old Trafford - but he couldn't help laughing at the expense of one of his team-mates.

A huge crowd gathered to toast Rooney's 12 years at the club, with Jose Mourinho's first home match as the club's manager and a first Old Trafford appearance in United red for Zlatan Ibrahimovic ensuring this was a memorable occasion.

Yet there was a moment of embarrassment for one of Rooney's United team-mates as Memphis Depay's lamentable attempt at an overhead kick in the box was more than a little embarrassing.

The Dutch winger who has failed to find his feet at United must have been already looking for somewhere to hide after his pathetic attempt, but he got no sympathy from Rooney, who burst out laughing on the bench.

Rooney had already been substituted and was watching the closing stages of the game with his son in the dug-out as Memphis had his latest Old Trafford nightmare moment.

Even Rooney Jnr saw the funny side if the incident, with this clip predictably getting big attention on Twitter.

Earlier, Depay had tweeted a message from his own account suggesting he was honoured to be a team-mate of United skipper Rooney...but he may not be amused when he sees this video clip.
