He is finally in the hotseat at Manchester United and Jose Mourinho seems to have the fans on his side already.

Will Keane and Andreas Pereira got the goals as Mourinho got off to a winning start with a 2-0 win away to Wigan today.

While the Portuguese can divide opinion, it seems the United faithful have given their seal of approval to the man they hope can put the Reds back on their perch.

The Red Army blasted out a chant of 'Jose, Jose Give us a wave' and despite persisting, there was no response from the ice-cool United manager.

Cue a chant of 'Sit Down Mourinho' from the stands and that duly provoked a wave from Jose much to the delight of the United fans.

Watch it here:

After the match, a happy Mourinho admitted he was amazed by the United fans.

"I am happy, and it's something that I never had before, a friendly match, first match of the season and a match that I could call it a training session against opposition," he told MUTV.

"I never saw something like this, so many supporters, the permanent supporting of the team, the manifestation of happiness with a few things they could see and this is absolutely fantastic. If it is like this in a friendly match, if they wait something from me (sic), I will try to give them everything and I am sure they are giving amazing support of the team."
