United set to pay Porto €20m for teenager
Manchester United are expected to sign 19-year-old right-back Diogo Dalot later this week after activating a €20m (£17.4m) release clause in his contract with Porto.
Dalot, who has already agreed personal terms, has made only a handful of first-team appearances for Porto after breaking into their team last season when he featured against Liverpool in the Champions League.
United have moved quickly to sign Dalot amid interest in him from a number of leading clubs throughout Europe, including Juventus, Napoli, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The teenager has been described as a modern full-back who is comfortable in attack, with good delivery and an eye for goal. He joined Porto's academy in 2008 and helped Portugal win the U-17 European Championship in 2016.
Jose Mourinho does not have faith in his right-back options beyond Antonio Valencia, who is 32. And, with Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind expected to leave the club this summer, he is expected to sign another full-back.
United are in advanced talks to sign Brazil midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk for an initial £44m which could rise to £50m with add-ons. They are also pursuing Belgium's Toby Alderweireld who is expected to leave Tottenham Hotspur for around £50m.
Ideally, Mourinho would want both deals secured before the players go to the World Cup next month.
It is expected that United will make around five signings this summer, with a raft of players, probably including Marouane Fellaini, leaving as Mourinho revamps his squad.
