'There is red in my heart' - Ander Herrera posts emotional farewell video message to Manchester United
Ander Herrera has confirmed he will leave Manchester United after Sunday's Premier League game against Cardiff at Old Trafford in an emotional video message posted on the club's social media channels.
The Spanish midfielder signed for United from Athletic Bilbao in 2013 and has played 189 games over the last five years, winning the FA Cup under the management of Louis van Gaal in 2016 and adding Carabao Cup and Europa League success after Jose Mourinho took over as head coach a year later.
"There is red in my heart, I knew it from the first time I played here and in the moment that I first started to wear it," he said.
"A club with thousands of fans that respect and remember all the players who give everything. I felt special when I heard my name chanted, I felt proud when the fans decided I was part of this incredible history.
"Every time I represented this club in wins and losses even when I couldn't help from the grass. I understood what this club means.
"I am going to remember each of the almost 200 matches that I played in this jersey. Because playing for the greatest club in England has been a true honour. Thanks for these five amazing years."
Herrera is expected to complete a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain following his exit from United, after he rejected a contract offer to remain at Old Trafford.
