Paul Pogba's Adidas boots for Manchester derby given ridiculous social media push
The boots Paul Pogba wore for the Manchester derby confirmed that he has fully signed up to the PR campaign around his return to United.
Pogba, his sponsors and even his agent were posting messages on social media in unison as they counted down to confirmation of his £89m move back to Old Trafford last month.
Now Adidas are continuing their hype drive, as they revealed the boots Pogba was handed for one of the biggest games of the season continued the #Pogback publicity splurge that was used to announce the Frenchman’s return to United after his move from Juventus.
Adidas appear to have been the big winners from the Pogba deal so far, with reports suggesting sales of United No.6 shirts complete with the name of their record signing have already moved through the $200m, a little over a month after he the deal was announced.
While United will get a small cut of that huge sum, Adidas will take the bulk of profits on United shirts as part of their record £750m deal with the Old Trafford giants.
Of course, Pogba’s performances on the field are will dictate whether his status as one of the world’s biggest stars will hold beyond this initial honeymoon period, but it is a massive PR hit for all concerned so far.
