Edinson Cavani is being lined up by Manchester United as a long-term replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to reports on Monday.

PSG have offered Cavani a three-year contract extension, but the Uruguayan is reported to be stalling and is yet to decide where his future lies.

Cavani is in red-hot form for PSG this season, his double against Nice on Sunday taking his total to 22 in just 21 appearances.

On Monday the Daily Express reports that United want to bring Cavani to Old Trafford, potentially to replace Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic, who played alongside Cavani in Paris, is 35 and the club are already turning their thoughts towards his replacement.

Tottenham’s Danny Rose has also been mooted for a move to Old Trafford, with the Daily Mirror claiming Jose Mourinho is ready to fight Manchester City for the defender.

The paper reports City manager Pep Guardiola wants to spend £25m on Rose, who only signed a new long-term deal with Spurs in September.

City scouts have been watching Rose for weeks and are understood to have been impressed.

Rose joined Spurs from Leeds United in 2007 and has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the country.

One player who almost certainly will not be joining United is PSG’s Brazilian star Marquinhos, who has revealed he is keen on signing a new deal with the club.

Mourinho wants a new centre-back in January and Marquinhos had been suggested as a target. However, this week he told Telefoot: “Things are going well and I would love to stay here. I hope to sign a renewal. It does not only depend on me but it is looking good.”

Elsewhere on Monday morning, The Sun claims Arsenal could make an unlikely move for Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard.
