The Instagram account of Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho appears to have been deleted, amid reports that it was bombarded with abusive message following Saturday’s FA Cup final defeat against Chelsea.

Mourinho’s negative tactics came under fire once again as his side struggled to get out of first gear in the first half against his former club at Wembley, with a second half revival not enough to avert a 1-0 defeat.

It meant Mourinho would finish his second season at the club without lifting a trophy and even though he claims progress has been made after a second place finish in the Premier League, United fans were quick to turn on the Portuguese tactician on social media channels after the game.

Mourinho’s brand of cautious football has been the subject of negative scrutiny during his two seasons at the club and it seemed as if many United fans are losing patience with the manager who guided the club to League Cup and Europa League Cup success in his first season at the club.

Despite the setback and newspaper reports of rifts between Mourinho and some of his players, United chiefs are believed to be determined to back the manager with another big summer of spending.

Luke Shaw, Juan Mata, Marouane Fellaini, Matteo Darmian, Daley Blind and Anthony Martial are among the players expected to be off-loaded by United, with a host of big names set to be linked with moves to Old Trafford as the summer transfer window kicks-off.
