Henrikh Mkhitaryan has completed his move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United, with confirmation from the Old Trafford club imminent.

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that Mkhitaryan will be leaving for England this summer, after confirming they have complied with the wish of the player to make the move to United.

Mkhitaryan was identified by Jose Mourinho's as one of top transfer targets in his opening weeks as United manager and now the Armenian international is set to join Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as high profile arrivals at the Theatre of Dreams.

This confirmation follows several weeks of speculation that Mkhitaryan was agitating for a move to United, with his agent Mino Raiola going public in his pleas to Dortmund to allow the move to take place.

“He wants to go to Manchester United and we are still trying to resolve the situation,” Raiola said last month.

“We are still talking to Dortmund. We are trying to be reasonable. They are aware that Micki wants to leave now.”

Mkhitaryan has just one year left on his Dortmund contract and was adamant that he would not sign a new deal, forcing Dortmund to sell now rather than lose the player on a free transfer next summer.

United are signing a player who was in prolific form last season, scoring 11 goals and registering 20 assists for Dortmund and his arrival will spark speculation over the future of several of United's midfield stars.

This is how Sky Sports broke the news that Mkhitaryan would become a United player:
