Alvaro Morata's Man United move finalised 'within hours' as Romelu Lukaku's future take a fresh twist - reports
Manchester United are finally on the brink of agreeing a deal to sign Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata, with the two clubs close to agreeing a fee, according to the latest reports from Spain.
United have been chasing Morata's signature since Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann turned down a move to Old Trafford last month, with Marca reporting the latest bid from the Premier League club is €75m.
While that has not been enough to confirm an agreement for Morata, the newspaper that has close ties to Real Madrid are suggesting the Spanish striker could be on his way to Manchester 'in a matter of hours' to complete the deal.
The Marca story also suggests United manager Jose Mourinho has been in regular contact with Morata in recent weeks, assuring him that the move to United will be finalised despite a somewhat frosty relationship that exists between United and their Spanish rivals.
Meanwhile, a series of reports have suggested United are also preparing a huge bid to sign Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, who has been widely expected to return to Chelsea this summer.
Lukaku endured a somewhat frosty relationship with United boss Mourinho during their time together at Chelsea, but Independent.ie understands that the striker is open minded about his next destination.
Even though Lukaku has made little secret of his desire to return to Chelsea on several occasions, a lack of progress in talks between the Premier League champions and Everton may open the door for United to pounce.
United and Everton are already in talks over a move that will see Wayne Rooney make a move to Everton in the coming days, with Lukaku mentioned in the discussions between the two clubs.
Lukaku's agent Mino Raiola has sealed several big money deal with United in the last year and the player is currently holidaying with his friend Paul Pogba, who will doubtless be giving him the full run-down on life at United.
A reunion between Mourinho and Lukaku now appears to be more likely that at any point in 2017, but it is the deal for Morata that is likely to be concluded first as United prepare to kick-start their summer of spending in earnest.
