Alexis Sanchez is in line to make his Manchester United debut in Friday night’s FA Cup fourth round tie at Yeovil, but manager Jose Mourinho has left some star names out of his squad for the clash in Somerset.

Several top Premier League managers make wholesale changes to their line-ups in the early stages of the FA Cup and with a full round of Premier League fixtures to be played on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, a long list of top players are likely to be rested this weekend.

Yet Mourinho has always embraced the challenge of the FA Cup and he has taken a strong squad with him for the game against League Two opposition, with new signing Sanchez joined by Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku on the United team plane.

However, Paul Pogba looks set to be among those rested by Mourinho, with David De Gea and Anthony Martial among those left in Manchester ahead of United’s big Premier League game against Tottenham at Wembley next Wednesday.

Mourinho has confirmed that he is eager to make progress in the FA Cup, as he looks to add to his solitary success in the competition with Chelsea back in 2007.

"We have set very high standards, winning three trophies in one season," Mourinho said as he again mentioned last season’s trophy haul.

"Those are the standards I expect my teams to aim for.

"We are going to rest a couple of players (at Yeovil). We have also a couple with little problems we want to try to resolve to have them without problems for the next matches coming in February, Premier League and also Champions League, but apart from that we go with a very strong team."

Angel Gomes has been included in the United squad for the tie, with the 17-year-old midfielder tipped to have a bright future at the club after impressing in under-age games.
