Manchester City are planning to make an offer for Raheem Sterling this summer.
Manuel Pellegrini's side are looking to increase their homegrown quota to adhere to Financial Fair Play rules and Sterling fits the bill.
Liverpool value Sterling at around £50million and, with City confident they can complete the deal, they could receive an offer as soon as the transfer window opens.
As one arrives another leaves and Mario Balotelli could be on his way out of Anfield with Sampdoria confirming that they want to take the Liverpool striker back to Italy in the summer.
Liverpool will look to offload Balotelli at the end of the season and Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero says they are interested in signing him.
"Would I take Balotelli to Sampdoria? Yes," Ferrero told Gazzetta TV. "If he is here then he would again start scoring goals."
Meanwhile, Liverpool are in pole position to sign Memphis Depay.
The PSV winger, who is also a target for Manchester United, has been given the green light to change clubs this summer and reports say Brendan Rodgers has made a bid in excess of £18million.
United are also believed to have made an offer, but Liverpool are prepared to up their bid to £23.7million in order to win the race.
Liverpool and Arsenal target Juan Iturbe could be moving to the Premier League this summer after the player's agent confirmed there are two teams who would be willing to pay £22 million for him.
Brendan Rodgers is a keen admirer of the 21-year-old and Iturbe’s agent, Gustavo Mascardi, says Roma face a fight to keep hold of the Argentine striker.
He told Radio Crc: “I think he’ll stay at Roma next year.
"[But] there are two teams in England who want him and would be willing to pay the fee that Roma did for him.”
