Man City star to travel to Barcelona to discover extent of knee injury
Manchester City left-back Benjamin Mendy is set to travel to Barcelona for specialist assessment of his knee injury, Press Association Sport understands.
The France international was forced off during the first half of Saturday's Premier League victory over Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium after being hurt in a tackle on Andros Townsend.
The club hope the problem is not serious but the 23-year-old failed a fitness test ahead of Tuesday's Champions League Group F clash against Shakhtar Donetsk.
It is understood Mendy will visit Barcelona-based knee specialist Dr Ramon Cugat, who is a friend of manager Pep Guardiola, to discover the full extent of the injury.
This has not been officially confirmed by City but over the past year the club have sent a number of players to be treated by Dr Cugat, including Gabriel Jesus, Vincent Kompany and Kevin De Bruyne.
It is Mendy's second injury of the season, having missed the first two games following his £49.1million move from Monaco with a thigh injury.
