Dejan Lovren was a notable omission from Liverpool's Super Cup squad as transfer talks continue with Roma. Lovren remained on Merseyside while his team-mates flew to Turkey to face Chelsea, with his exclusion attributed to illness rather than an impending deal.

Klopp would offer no hint on Lovren's future. Asked directly if the centre-back was on the verge of leaving, the manager replied: "No idea. He is ill."

It is clear Lovren's days at Anfield may be coming to an end, however. Liverpool are willing to discuss a sale with the Italian club and value the Croatian at £15 million (€16m).

Of those who have travelled to Istanbul Sadio Mane is in line to start, having made a substitute appearance on Friday. But in a late blow, Naby Keita limped out last night's training session.
