Mohamed Salah becomes the first person to ever be named Premier League Player of the Month three times in a single season
Liverpool's Mohamed Salah made history today by becoming the first player to win the Premier League Player of the Month award three times in a single season.
Having already picked up the monthly gong in November and February, the free-scoring Liverpool forward received the trophy for his exploits in March this morning.
Salah is currently leading the race to be the Premier League's top goalscorer this season with 29 goals, four ahead of Tottenham's Harry Kane.
The Egyptian hopes to surpass the record for most goals scored in a 38-match PL season, jointly-held by Alan Shearer (1995/96), Cristiano Ronaldo (2007/08) and Luis Suarez (2013/14), with 31.
“I’m very proud to see myself fighting to break the [goalscoring] record for the Premier League. I’m thinking about each game. That’s my target, I want to score, I want to help the team to win again.
“It’s still five games to go, there’s a big chance, let’s see.”
