Liverpool to play Aviva Stadium friendly this August three days after Manchester United
Liverpool will play La Liga Athletic Bilbao in a friendly at the Aviva Stadium, three days after Manchester United take to the Dublin venue.
Jurgen Klopp's team will complete their pre-season preparations with the fixture against the Spaniards on Saturday, August 5 (kick-off 5.15pm).
This will be the first time the teams have met since the European Cup campaign of 1983-84, which saw Liverpool go on to lift the trophy for the fourth time in Rome.
The game will come three days after Jose Mourinho's Manchester United face Sampdoria at the home of Irish football.
“We always get such an amazing reception in Dublin,” Liverpool club ambassador Ian Rush said.
“Even though this is a friendly game, I’m sure our incredible Irish supporters will make the atmosphere just as good when we meet Bilbao this time around.”
The Reds played Shamrock Rovers at the Aviva back in 2014, winning 4-0.
