Liverpool have unveiled their new ‘deep violet’ away kit for next season, with Mohamed Salah handed a prominent role in the launch.

This kit will replace the white and blue-green quartered shirt that Liverpool wore last season and is a return to they used for their second kit in previous seasons, with the most recent incarnation of a purple strip used in the 2012/13 season.

The goalkeeper jersey for this kit is described as a bold vivid cactus colour, with doubts over the No.1 who will wear the jersey prevailing after Loris Karius’ nightmare performance in the Champions League final last month.

The back of the shirt will carry a logo paying tribute to the 96 Liverpool fans who lost their lives at the Hillsborough disaster in 1989, with the hashtag #ThisMeansMore used to promote the kit.

Liverpool and the rest of their Premier League rivals will discover who they will face in the opening game of the new season when the fixtures are announced on Wednesday morning.
