Jurgen Klopp sings the praises of Ireland's Conor Masterson
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has tipped Irish youngster Conor Masterson to be one of the next Academy products to make a big impact at Anfield.
Masterson has been with Liverpool since the age of 13 with the Merseyside club signing him from west Dublin club Lucan United.
During a mid-season training camp in La Manga, Spain, Klopp singled out the Republic of Ireland Under 19 international along with youngster Yan Dhanda as two players he's been impressed with.
“I knew them both from training with us already,” Klopp told the Liverpool Echo.
The German went on to explain how Masterson, along with Dhanda, were certainly on his radar. “We could have taken Rhian Brewster or a few other guys but Yan Dhanda and Conor Masterson are the next boys."
Masterson signed a deal, reportedly worth around €1 million, with Liverpool when he turned 16 and his progress has clearly been garnering the right kind of attention.
“I know all of the boys and that’s really cool. It’s a good group. They have worked well, really good attitude. Yan and Conor have fitted in well,” concluded Klopp.
