Jordan Henderson will be back to lead Liverpool tonight as they aim to take the Premier League title race to the last day of the season.

Henderson was surprisingly left on the bench for the Champions League semi-final in Barcelona on Wednesday, but manager Jurgen Klopp earmarked the midfielder for the trip to Newcastle.

Trailing Manchester City by one point, nothing less than victory will take Liverpool above the leaders, given their inferior goal difference.

Three points would heap the pressure back on Pep Guardiola's side ahead of their game at home to Leicester City on Monday. At this stage, as Liverpool compete on two fronts, it is all about managing resources, as Klopp explained.

"Three games in six days were coming," he said.

"It is clear that Hendo cannot play these three games, so which is the most important one?"

Henderson replaced Naby Keita at the Nou Camp and it has emerged the Guinean will be out for two months with a torn groin muscle.
