The first images of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in Liverpool colours have emerged on social media, with Liverpool fans hoping he will joined by Virgil van Dijk at Anfield by the end of Thursday’s transfer window.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is believed to have taken wage cut from what he had been offered to stay at Arsenal or join Chelsea to seal a move to Liverpool, with the player who idolized Reds legend Steven Gerrard now living out his dream of playing for the Anfield giants.

Now the question over who will join Oxlade-Chamberlain at Liverpool hangs in the air, with Van Dijk’s enduring links with a move to Anfield continuing throughout this summer.

Southampton have remained determined not to sell Van Dijk all summer, despite the Dutch defender handing in a transfer request and training with the club’s under-23 players in recent weeks. were the first to report this summer that a bid in excess of £70m may tempt Southampton to sell their want away star, but neither Liverpool or Chelsea have made an offer of that magnitude to this point.

Liverpool were warned not to make any more attempts to sign Van Dijk after they apologised for an unsolicited approach for the player earlier this year and they make break the terms of their apology to Southampton if they make the first move to him now.

If Chelsea were to have an offer accepted for Van Dijk on deadline day, then Liverpool could make their move, yet Southampton remain relaxed about Van Dijk’s position and are not expecting him to leave on deadline day.

Monaco are also reluctant to sell their midfielder Thomas Lemar to Liverpool, with widespread reports suggesting a bid of around €100m would be required to seal a deal for the French midfielder.
