Liverpool have had a €30m bid accepted for yet another attacking midfielder
Liverpool are addicted to advanced midfielders.
Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Lazar Markovic (for now) and James Milner (occasionally) can all occupy the space behind the striker and it appears that Jurgen Klopp is about to add another player of that position to his squad.
Sky Sports and The Telegraph are reporting that Liverpool have had a €30m bid accepted for Newcastle attacker Georginio Wijnaldum.
The Dutch international was a bright spot in an otherwise dismal season for the Magpies, scoring 11 goals as the team were relegated.
So while Liverpool are undoubtedly gaining a quality attacker, it remains to be seen how Klopp will fit so many expensive players into one team.
Perhaps, given the fragility of striker Daniel Sturridge, the German manager will opt for a false nine - possibly Firmino - with three attacking midfielders behind in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
It will be interesting to see what the Liverpool XI looks like when they start their Premier League campaign away to Arsenal in a few weeks time.
