Liverpool confirm signing of Monaco star as Jurgen Klopp bolsters defensive midfield options
Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Monaco midfielder Fabinho as Jurgen Klopp strengthens his squad ahead of next season.
Naby Keita will arrive from RB Leipzig this summer but the Liverpool midfield is likely to lose Emre Can, who is out of contract and yet to open talks over a new deal.
The 24-year-old Brazilian has been picked out for the holding role in the Liverpool team that was often occupied by Can, with Liverpool confirming that he will join the club on July 1.
Fabinho told Liverpoolfc.com: "I am really excited about this move.
"This is something that I always wanted – this is a giant of a team. The infrastructures of the club look exceptional.
"A football club of this size coming after my services, I didn’t have to think that much about coming over.
"I will try to create my own history at this football club. Hopefully, on a personal level, I’m able to win titles with this club.
"I will try to grow and learn and improve myself, and to be part of the club’s history."
The transfer fee is thought to be around €50m.
