Is this how Man United could line up with Falcao?

Declan Whooley

Radamel Falcao was the big talking point on transfer deadline day, but just how will Manchester United line-up with their raft of summer signings?

The new additions have many wondering of the balance and make-up of the Red Devils side this term, with the big outlay expected to reverse the club's poor run of form since they claimed the Premier League trophy in the summer of 2013.

Manager Louis van Gaal appears to be willing with his policy of three defenders, with new boy Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones likely to get two of those spots when fully match fit.

A full-back at Southampton, Luke Shaw appears ideally suited to the wing-back role, but could also be the left-sided defender in a back three if Van Gaal feels he has other options on the flanks.

New boys Daley Blind and Ander Herrera could well anchor the midfield, which would spell trouble for Michael Carrick, while Angel Di Maria and Juan Mata would be easily flexible on the wings and provide much-needed creativity.

Speculation is mounting that Wayne Rooney could be set for a deeper role behind what would be a formidable partnership of Falcao and Robin van Persie.

On paper at least it looks impressive, but time will tell how easily the new signings, and indeed the existing players, mould into Van Gaal's reshuffling of the pack at Old Trafford

Let us know if you think this will be Van Gaal's favoured team?
