Exciting young Irish prospect Troy Parrott has signed his first contract for Tottenham Hotspur.

16-year-old Parrott was inspirational for Colin O'Brien's Ireland U16 side in their recent run to the semi-finals of the Under-17 European Championships.

Parrott's natural ability and comfort on the ball was evident throughout the tournament in May and he scored three goals of the highest quality, including the equaliser against a talented Dutch side and eventual winners Holland in the semi-finals..

That match will also be remembered for its controversial ending when Irish keeper Jimmy Corcoran was sent off during the penalty shootout for leaving his line too early before saving one of the Dutch penalties.

The referee ordered the kick to be retaken with centre half Oisín McEntee going in nets. Holland scored the retaken penalty and Ireland were out in the most dramatic of circumstances.
