Hughton has faith in Krul
Newcastle boss Chris Hughton will have no qualms about installing Tim Krul as his temporary No 1 goalkeeper after losing Steve Harper to injury for 12 weeks.
Harper (35) underwent surgery to repair his damaged shoulder ligament on Thursday and is unlikely to play again until December.
Hughton has decided not to seek an emergency replacement and will instead rely on 22-year-old Dutchman Krul and Swedish understudy Ole Soderberg.
Hughton is confident Krul has what it will take to cover during Harper's enforced absence.
"That confidence has been built on not just the fact that when he has come in, he has done very well, but on what we have seen here from him over the period of time he has been here," said Hughton.
"We are very confident in his ability and we are quite sure he will cope very well."
