1988: Born April 6 in Kinshasa, Zaire, (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo).

1999: Moves to England, re-uniting with his father who sought political asylum there when fleeing civil war in his homeland.

2002: Joins Arsenal's youth academy.

2005: Signs professional terms, making the first of his two Arsenal appearances at Sunderland.

2006: Joins Birmingham on loan, helping team reach Premier League.

2007: Completes £4m switch to St Andrew's. Makes England U-21 debut in a friendly against Romania, having previously appeared at U-16, U-17, U-18 and U-19 levels.

2008: Scores two goals in 37 league appearances for Birmingham but can't prevent their relegation. Moves to Bolton for £5m.

2011: Represents England at Euro-pean Under-21 Championship.
