Dunne boost for Ireland

RICHARD DUNNE is set to return to training next week and give Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni a lift ahead of the back-to-back World Cup qualifiers against Sweden and Austria in March.

Dunne has not played since last summer's European Championship finals, having damaged his hip and groin.

He has undergone three operations, the latest of which was carried out in the United States.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert yesterday hinted that Dunne may still be part of his plans, despite the player being linked with a move to QPR, New York Red Bulls and Robbie Keane's LA Galaxy in recent weeks.

* Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder is set to join Galatasaray after the Turkish club agreed to pay €10m for the Dutch international.
